Who I am
My name is Jana Buskova and I am a wedding videographer based in Costa Brava, Spain. My website address is janabuskova.com. I take your privacy seriously and this policy explains clearly what data I collect, how I use it, and what your rights are.
What personal data I collect and why
When you first get in touch — usually via my contact form or email — I collect your names, wedding date and venue. Closer to your wedding day I may also ask for the names of key people attending and an emergency contact number, purely as a precaution for the day itself.
If we meet via video call, we will have access to each other through webcam and those contact details for the duration of that call only.
If I collected your email address at a wedding fair following a conversation, I may send one or two follow-up emails based on the verbal permission given at the time. If this leads to a booking, your data is stored as described below. If not, it is deleted shortly afterwards.
How I store your data
All personal data is stored securely. Your wedding footage is backed up on two separate password-encrypted hard drives during and after your wedding day. I typically retain raw footage for one year before permanently deleting it.
Your finished wedding film is hosted on Vimeo, protected by a private password which I send to you personally on delivery. You control who has access to your film.
How I use your data
I use your personal data solely to communicate with you about your wedding and to deliver my services. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
There are three specific situations where your wedding may be shared more widely:
1. Blog features and publications — occasionally I am invited to submit wedding films to wedding blogs or publications. If your wedding is chosen, I will always contact you first and ask for your explicit permission before anything is shared.
2. Supplier sharing — sometimes suppliers from your wedding day, such as your photographer, florist or venue, ask me for the link to your film to share on their own platforms. I will always check with you before sharing this link with anyone.
3. Competitions — I occasionally enter wedding films into industry competitions. I will always ask your permission before entering your film, and your agreement indicates you are also happy for the film to be shared online if it wins.
Marketing and social media
As part of running my business I share content online, primarily on Instagram, Facebook and my website blog. I may also occasionally use images on printed materials such as business cards or banners at wedding events. By signing my standard contract you are agreeing to this use of your wedding content.
I do not send newsletters or marketing emails.
Website comments
If you leave a comment on my blog, the data entered in the comment form is collected along with your IP address and browser details for spam prevention. An anonymised hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to display your profile picture. You can request deletion of your comment at any time.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of all personal data I hold about you
- Rectification — ask me to correct any inaccurate data
- Erasure — request complete deletion of your data at any time
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
